For the international traffic technology group SWARCO, we realized the automation of the world's most modern production facility for reflective glass beads in Neufurth/Amstetten. Our contribution included the entire process control technology for a highly efficient plant with an annual capacity of 35,000 tons.
In 1969, Manfred Swarovski laid the foundation for today's SWARCO Group in Amstetten. As the main plant reached its capacity limits, the world's most modern production facility for reflective glass beads was built in Neufurth/Amstetten. The annual production capacity is 35,000 t and can be further expanded.
In the new plant, crushed flat glass is processed into glass granulate and then melted into micro glass beads in shaft furnaces or melting tanks. These are fractionated, refined, and packaged for worldwide delivery.
The main application lies in road marking, where they ensure visibility in the dark as reflective glass beads. They are also used in industrial applications for surface treatment or water treatment.
Particular emphasis was placed on maximum efficiency and resource conservation. Modern technologies and optimized production processes, controlled by our automation technology, minimize energy and resource consumption.
